Kaka has revealed he turned down the chance to join Chelsea when he left AC Milan in the summer.
The Brazilian playmaker joined Real Madrid for a then world record fee of around 70million Euros, but significant interest from Chelsea and new manager Carlo Ancelotti was rumoured at the time.
Chairman Bruce Buck admitted at the end of last season that Chelsea were looking to bring in a 'marquee' name, but the club failed to do so in the summer.
Kaka has confirmed those stories, revealing that there were two choices for possible destinations when he left Italy.
"It came to a point where it was better for both Milan and I to part," he told Spanish radio station Cadena Cope.
"When Milan opened the doors for me it was a sign. I no longer shared the same motives as the team.
"And if there came a day when I had to leave Milan, I had always wanted to play in Madrid. I was able to go with Ancelotti to Chelsea, but I told him it was my dream to go to Madrid."

"You can't blame him for selling his wares to the highest bidder, it will be intresting to see if Real Madrid win all, especially if they face Chelsea in the CL."

"As a Chelsea fan I'm wondering why this is a story at all now? Milan couldn't afford to keep him and Chelsea obviuosly couldn't afford his wage demands. Madrid have given him fantastic wages and fair play to the boy but we have, arguably, the best strike pairing in the premiership. We're in November, top of the league and powering on in all competitions...Bothered about Kaka? Nah "
